Lock-in

The lock-in is React-only — by design.

To really use Plasmic you are committed to React: the founder confirms on Hacker News that unlocking its power means using React, and custom-component registration is React-specific. The platform choice quietly becomes a framework choice you can’t walk back.

Blueprint’s answer

An open, framework-neutral contract and an open-source runtime you host yourself. The artifact is JSON you own and map onto your own components — not a path that decides your framework for you.

Running Plasmic in your own VPC, VPS, or Kubernetes cluster is, in Plasmic’s own docs, something you arrange by getting in touch with the enterprise team — a sales-gated path rather than a documented self-serve deploy. For a team that needs the UI layer in its own environment, that’s a negotiation, not a download.

Plasmic’s public footprint is thin — its Capterra listing shows zero reviews, and the main GitHub repo has its issue tracker disabled — which some read as a small-team signal and fairly raises the “will this still be supported in three years?” question for something your UI would sit on top of.
